Looking to Tomorrow

Urban Blooms continues to push the boundaries of living walls with our third large living mural. Located in the Walnut Hills neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio this beautiful installation highlights the diversity and creativity of the surrounding community. A total of 4 unique, curved and swooping living walls are integrated perfectly into the surrounding mural. These custom walls are covered in over 25 varieties of plants grouped together to create vibrant color patterns that match the inspiring mural.

This project was a collaboration by Artworks, The Walnut Hills Redevelopment Found, and Urban Blooms. Artworks found the perfect artist, April Sunami, out of Columbus Ohio. April and Tyler Wolf of Urban Blooms met in person and virtually to walk through the capabilities of the Urban Blooms Living Wall System and how best to incorporate it into a mural. After a few rounds of revisions and input from our partners, the final result emerged.

It was our goal to create a piece that symbolized a brighter, more sustainable, and equitable future. The natural elements(our living walls) are a part of the Energy or Aura that is surrounding the strong central woman, who represents humanity. One of the living walls (natural elements) arches over the woman’s head, providing her with shelter. The other three living walls trail behind the woman, creating the feeling of forward movement. We owe our development to nature, seeing this will reveal the true beauty of our world.
